About the Garden
The KwaZulu-Natal NBG was established in 1874 as a place to grow tree seedlings and is considered one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It is situated in the western suburbs of Pietermaritzburg. The focus of the Garden is to display and promote the conservation of the biodiverse flora of South Africa’s eastern grasslands.
