Exploring Phylogenetic Diversity and Evolutionary Metrics in Biodiversity Science
ACDB hosted its second 2026 workshop on 19 May 2026, facilitated by Prof. Jonathan Davies, a visiting distinguished professor from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. The workshop focused on phylogenetic diversity, species richness, and the Shannon index, as well as important evolutionary metrics, including ED (Evolutionary Distinctiveness) using fair proportion and equal split methods, AED (Abundance-weighted Evolutionary Distinctiveness), and EDGE/EDGE2 (Evolutionary Distinctiveness and Global Endangered Species). The session brought together students and staff to explore key concepts in biodiversity measurement and evolutionary ecology.
